Pump Track

Playground for all kind of wheels.

All ages and all types of roller sports equipment move together. An active recreation zone where respect and tolerance are practiced. The social meeting place and movement promoter: the Pump Track.

The idea

A pump track is a circular, usually flat, undulating track. The asphalt surface, which has now become standard, extends the range of possible uses to other roller sports equipment such as skateboards, inline skates, scooters and balance bikes. The basic idea of a pump track is to generate momentum through rhythmic movements of the arms and legs (so-called pumping).

This principle eliminates the need to pedal on the Pump Track and also allows it to be used with skateboards, inline skates, kickboards and balance bikes. This trains a sense of rhythm as well as dexterity and coordination skills. The constant pumping may look light and weightless, but after a short time it is also associated with top physical performance. A well-designed and constructed pump track is a safe facility, as users only ride as fast as they can generate speed. As soon as the skills increase, a new dimension opens up and you start to jump from wave to wave and can express yourself creatively.

What makes a well-built system?

Well-built courses have a coherent progression. In addition to clearly defined simple and more challenging laps, this also means different characteristics and options within the track. This results in countless possible combinations and there are no limits to creativity. Our pump tracks are therefore interesting for complete beginners, toddlers and advanced riders and remain attractive for a long time. The learning instinct is actively stimulated, resulting in a steep learning progression for users.

A lot of time and effort goes into the design phase of our projects. The system should meet the needs of local users and be tailored to the available perimeter. User flows should be intuitive and the system should be visually appealing. In addition to functionality and safety, the design of the surroundings is a major concern for us. The spaces and embankments are perfect places to integrate ecological enhancement measures. For example, many insects, amphibians, birds, lizards, hedgehogs and other animals find a new habitat in stone piles, knots, stone walls, sand pits or bee hotels. At the same time, visitors to the site can be made aware of environmental issues such as biodiversity. A pleasant additional benefit: the shade provided by shrubs and trees keeps the facility cool in hot summers and more pleasant for visitors and our environment.

Low barriers to entry – great success

Pump tracks are experiencing a considerable boom in Switzerland and the whole World, and there is probably no other leisure facility that has been built so often in the last decade.

Pump tracks are so popular because they appeal to a large target group. There are various suitable pieces of sports equipment and these are usually already available in the population or relatively inexpensive to purchase. As pump tracks can also be ridden on balance bikes and kickboards, they are accessible from a young age. It is relatively easy to get into the sport and the first signs of success can be seen after just a few minutes.

They can be designed as local recreational infrastructure in residential areas and are therefore easily accessible. They often also serve as a social meeting point for sports enthusiasts and families. By playfully promoting riding skills and mastery of the sports equipment, pump tracks also make a significant contribution to safety in our everyday and leisure traffic.

And the most important thing: riding a pump track is simply incredible fun!
