Skills Park as an addition to the Häxutrail

The Belalp Häxuland Skills Park is the latest high light for mountain bikers in a fantastic surrounding . Located at 2100 m above sea level, the skills park includes an uphill trail with challenging shortcuts, various jumps and drops, an easy single trail, switchbacks and a rock garden with rock rides over large rocks. Thanks to the wide range of features, bikers can prepare themselves perfectly for a ride on the Häxutrail (watch the video below). The Belalp Bike School and local bike clubs also hold training sessions in the Hexenland.

Mario Gertschen, Managing Director Belalp Bahnen

“The Skills Park Häxuland offers the ideal learning area for bike beginners, but is also fun for experienced riders. Vast was the perfect partner for us, from conception and planning to construction and promotion. The feedback from guests about the new Skills Park has been consistently positive. In addition to the Skills Park, Vast was already responsible for the construction of the “Häxutrail” back in 2020. Due to the very professional and uncomplicated cooperation, it goes without saying that we also want to implement future projects with the Vast team.”

Similar use summer and winter

Where the ski school operates its beginners’ area in winter, young and old alike acquire and consolidate their skills on two wheels in the summer months. The Skills Park thus extends the operation of the existing winter use into the summer. Existing infrastructure such as the access road and the restaurant can thus be optimally integrated into summer use and marketing.

Planning takes winter into account

In terms of construction, however, this situation was an exciting challenge. It is well known that white snow is becoming an increasingly scarce resource in winter, making slope preparation ever more complex and costy. The layout of the Skills Park Hexenland was therefore carefully embedded in the existing topography. By making optimum use of the existing terrain, the additional terrain shifts were reduced to a minimum. Major terrain shifts (such as the table jumps) were only created where there is no ski slope in winter. Thanks to these measures, winter operation is still possible without additional effort and snow groomer compatibility is ensured.

Philipp Bont, Co Owner Vast Trails

“If you want to work on your skills in a safe environment and improve them specifically, there is hardly a better place to do this than a Skills Park.

  • Riding hairpin bends or moving the bike?
  • Approaching drops?
  • Finally styling properly on the jumps?
  • Lose your fear of rock gardens or steep descents?

We have designed this skills park for precisely these and many more topics. Consciously dedicating yourself to these skills will have you flying over the trails in no time.”
