Forest Bump
Forest Bump is our vision of a playful, creative and beginner-friendly trail. It can be ridden with little mountain bike experience, but also offers the opportunity to approach the next level of difficulty ride by ride. The experienced and creative eye will soon find additional fun. The Forest Bump thus becomes a progressive playground and is far more than just a conventional flow trail!
The heart of Bike Park Bellwald
The 4.3 km long trail is the first and central trail of the Bellwald Bike Park expansion and thus the centerpiece of “Vision 2024“. It opens up the first section from Fleschen (2080 m.a.s.l.) to Bellwald (1700 m.a.s.l.) with a continuous blue trail. The name is a reference to the film character “Forest Gump”, the beautiful larch forests through which the trail flows and the playful bumps (rollers, waves) that can be found all along the trail.
Trail design across all target groups
Although the “main line” is consistently blue, the trail is not just for beginners, but also for advanced riders and experts. The experienced and creative eye will soon find additional lines, hidden jumps, jumpable waves and many other fun features such as small drops, side hits and short technical sections. Beginners can improve their skills on various level-appropriate trail features ride by ride. The trail is therefore also ideal for coaching and schooling.
We already had a record summer in 2020 due to the corona virus pandemic. With the opening of the Forest Bump Trail in June 2021, we welcomed another 280% more mountain bike guests and recorded a 242% increase in transport frequencies. These numbers speak for themselves in regards to the attractiveness of the trails built by Vast Tails. We are excited to see how the figures will develop with the upcoming trail offers!
In flow with the landscape
At the start, the Forest Bump Trail offers a beautiful view of the small but idyllic Fleschensee lake and the breathtaking mountain panorama of the majestic Valais alps. From there, the trail leads past large boulders and lush blueberry and juniper fields with gentle changes of direction and fun waves enabling jump options before plunging into a majestic larch forest. A longer meadow section with a flowing single trail design then awaits you, ending with some larger but rollable jumps. After reaching the lift track, the trail alternates between forest and lift track downhill with lots of generous banked turns as well as wave and jump elements until you reach the edge of the village and cross the road back to the valley station.
In late fall 2021, we were on the Forest Bump Trail together again and captured great moving images in the golden light that tell the story of the Forest Bump Trail!

On the Forest Bump, I had the opportunity to turn my dirt jump fantasies into reality with bumps, berms and hits on a mountain bike trail. However, the trail is still easy to master for all mountain bikers, regardless of their level, thanks to the consistent blue and rollable main line. For the more ambitious rider, it has some really fun features that are guaranteed to put a big grin on your face on every run!
